The engineers of Sweco Engineering are preparing, on the order of the partnership owned by the Stockholm City Council, the project of construction of multi-storey underground garage in the capital city of Sweden. Thanks to this investment more than 1,200 vehicles will find parking spaces, which will reduce the commute to the city center and will limit the intensity of traffic in this area. The project is carried out with Swedish Sweco AB, which proves that international cooperation is beneficial for all parties involved.
SCOPE OF WORKS:
Structural design of underground garage in Stockholm. The work includes all parts pertaining to the actual structural analysis, concrete design, reports and preparation of detailed drawings. Design to Eurocodes.
The scope of Sweco Engineering service covers all stages, from preliminary to detailed design and entails works such as static calculation, preparation of general arrangement and reinforcement drawings. All works are carried out using both Autodesk and Bentley professional design software.

“The project is distinguished by the complicated developments of the object and surrounding area, in which we have to locate the garage. Temporary railway line situated in the location of future garage will be moved to Tunnel nearby which is currently under construction. Additionally, we have to take into consideration that above the tunnel there will be a new road infrastructure alongside the premises” – says Piotr Mitkowski, Coordinator of International Projects Sweco Engineering.

Cooperation beyond borders
Preparatory works needed to implement the investment started in 2014. Since 2017 Sweco AB and Sweco Engineering have been working together. The beginning of the project was organised in Stockholm in order for the engineers to be able to familiarise themselves with the methodology of work and the Swedish standards. At present, swedish and polish teams are working simultaneously on different parts of the construction staying in close contact to finalize the project in the most efficient way.
„The obstacle which we managed to overcome is the coordination of work between the Swedish and the Polish engineers, as well as adjusting to the Swedish requirements and client’s demands. At present, we see the possibility and the need for common action in the forthcoming projects” – summarises Piotr Mitkowski.
