Building resilience: being young and getting old in a hotter Europe
We are seeing examples of more extreme weather conditions than ever before. The most threatening one for our most vulnerable citizens, the very young and the elderly, is heat. As the density of our cities increases and the elderly population continues to grow, we are challenged to design urban environments that will be resilient to extreme heat and prolonged heatwaves. We will have to apply the design principles of building social and physical structures for both a 2-year-old and an 80-year-old person, to provide safe, liveable and enjoyable environments.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Creating an eco-friendly environment for working and living becomes nowadays a key element. Sweco’s consultants with using BREEAM methods assess, rate and certify buildings. Together with developers, architects, contractors and tenants we are focused on creating a sustainable environment for working and living.
Using BIM technology for project and management purposes means having access to major advantages – better understanding and design, and an abundance of added-value, especially economical. Sweco engineers use BIM technology to make our customers get high-quality designs at an optimum price.
